George Brazil’s February Water Heater Giveaway

The George Brazil team attended quite a few expos, events, and home shows throughout January and February this year. Additionally, we have occupied two local mall kiosks (Superstition Springs Center and Chandler Fashion Center), all in efforts to make scheduling an appointment and asking those determining questions more convenient for our customers in the Phoenix area.

We want you to stop and ask our team the questions you have about home energy efficiency and we want to save you the time of having to schedule an appointment when you just have a simple opinion-question. Along with making things convenient for you this year, we wanted to help out. At each show, event, or expo we have attended this year, we have been collecting entry slips for a chance to win a new water heater and installation.

We have a winner for February and our winner is Sarah Taylor of Gilbert, Arizona.

Sarah and her husband entered our drawing at the Phoenix Home & Garden Show at the State Fair Ground this past February. We installed Sarah’s new water heater this past week and were able to interview her quick about her experience through this whole, unexpected process. Here is what she had to say…

Were you considering purchasing a new water heater unit previous to us giving one to you for the giveaway?
It was on our wish list since my husband is getting deployed to Afghanistan and ours was 10 years old!
How did you and your husband feel when you found out you won a new water heater?
I have to say that we were both really excited about it. We were really surprised because neither one of us thought that anyone really ever won anything at the home shows! I am thinking next time we will fill out more forms!
How was your experience with our team throughout the water heater installation?
Everyone was really wonderful!
Are there any comments you would like included in our winner write-up?
I feel really blessed to have won such a wonderful gift. I know that it has eased my Hubby’s mind knowing that one thing is crossed off his list of worries while he is deployed.

The George Brazil’s Ultimate Service Truck

Over the last 62 years, owner George Brazil, has been designing and modifying service trucks to prepare every technician for whatever a service call may require. Come check out the George Brazil Airship and others this weekend at the 3rd Annual Carefree-Cave Creek Balloon Festival. The festival is to be held this Saturday, January 21 from 4 Pm to 10 PM!

General admission for the event is $8 and children ages 3-12 are only $5!

The festival will feature two hours of balloon glow and plenty of time to mingle with the George Brazil Airship crew, as well as many others. In addition, there will be plenty of food, shopping, a ton of live music and a fireworks display hosted by the Carefree Inn and Resort!

A/C Problems during Arizona Summer?!

That’s not something you want to ever have to say, but it happens, especially in Arizona. Before you call a 24-hour air conditioning service or an Arizona emergency air conditioning company, there are a few things you can check yourself to hopefully narrow down the problem:

Is the unit blowing air through the system? Check the thermostat and see if it’s set on “automatic” or “on.” Check all the circuit breakers and fuse boxes (remember that there may be different breakers for different circuits, so check them all).
Is the outdoor unit running, but not the fan? Could be a dirty or clogged filter or coil, or the blower’s motor might be defective.
Check the lines at the outside unit. Are they iced over? Your evaporator or filter might be dirty, or your unit could be low on refrigerant. Running low on refrigerant is a pretty common problem, one that can also result in a unit that runs almost constantly. Replacing refrigerant isn’t terribly expensive, but if it’s leaking, it’s best for the tech to diagnose where the leak is coming from and repair it.
Is your thermostat not holding the temperature you set it for? The thermostat may need to be calibrated, or it may have failed. Thermostats are usually not terribly expensive, and your city’s utility department may be moving toward smart programmable thermostats anyway.
Are some rooms warmer than others? Check and see if your dampers are working in those rooms.
Does the outdoor unit not come on at all? It could be a wiring problem or switch problem outside. Or…it could be a fire ant infestation. Don’t laugh! Fire ants are drawn to electrical fields, and it’s a very common problem.

One thing is for sure. In the middle of an Arizona summer, going without your air conditioning isn’t an option. But before calling one of the 24-hour air conditioning services Phoenix has to offer, it’s good to at least be informed of what you’re up against.
